We are open every day: 9:00 am to 07:00 pm.

How do I get to your office?

Best way to get to our office from KEF airport is by taking Grey Line bus from the airport to their bus terminal at Klettagarðar 4 in Reykjavík, from there we provide free shuttle service back to our office so no walking is needed.

If you are already in Reykjavík, we also provide the same shuttle service to pick you up from your accommodation within Reykjavík.

What are the requirements to rent a campers from Affordable Campers?

You need to be at test 21 years old and have held a driver license for at least 12 months before the start of the rental

Do I need an international driver license to drive in Iceland?

All driver licenses must include the following

-A license number

-A photo of the license holder

-Valid date

-Been printed in Latin characters

Even if drivers license meet all those conditions we recommend all non-European customers to get an International Driving Permit before your trip https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Driving_Permit

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is 3 days

What is included in the rental price?

It includes a camper of your choice with unlimited kilometres/mileage, 24% VAT tax, CDW (Collision damage waiver) insurance where you liability is 2.500€ in case of an accident, bedding (sheets, pillows and blankets) and a kitchen box filled with everything needed to cook a simple meal  including a gas stove.

I reserved a camper though your website but did not get any confirmation email, what should I do?

How do I pay for the rental?

While reserving your camper you pay a confirmation fee as 15% of the total amount this can be done by credit card.

The remaining amount is due at the start of the rental and can be paid by card or by cash. Note that a credit card in the name of the renter need to be presented at the start of the rental for insurance purposes.

Do I need to bring a credit card when picking up the camper?

Yes, a credit card is required for all rentals for security purposes, we will take an imprint at the start of the rental. Even when the rental has been paid in full, this may be used to charge any traffic violation, parking fines, fuel re-fills or to cost due to damage to the rented vehicle.

Can I make changes to my rental?

Yes, you can make changes to your rental before the rental beings. If you wish to make any changes email us at a-campers@a-campers.is

Can I cancel my rental?

Yes you can. If you cancel 7 days or more before your rental starts the reservation is refunded 100%. If you cancel later than that you will receive 85% of the full amount. You will never get more refunded what you have already paid.

Can I get refunded if I return my camper early?

No, we do not refund if you return the camper early. If you wish to return the camper early please notify us before.

All returns shall take place during opening hours (9am – 7pm)

Optionally if you need to return the campers outside out opening hours we will take a deposit on you credit card in the same about as the liability on your insurance (1.000 – 2.500 €) this will be refunded if the camper is returned without any damage to it. Please return the camper at our office at: Dugguvogur 15 from Kænuvogur side, 104 Reykjavík and drop the keys in out postal slot.

When will the rental agreement become active?

The rental agreement will become active as soon as it has been signed and remains active until the campers has been returned.

Note: we reserve the right to substitute another vehicle if the reserved vehicle is not available at pick up with a similar camper or a higher class.

What is included with the camper?

Our campers come well equipped with almost everything needed for traveling around Iceland, Spacious bed, well equipped kitchen box including a gas stove, high quality heating system to keep you warm during the night. Privacy curtains and a powered cooler box. We also offer a host of extras if you feel the need for more check them out here.

What insurance do you offer?

CDW – Collision damage waiver (included)

CDW (Collision damage waiver) is included with every rental. The CDW includes third-party liability insurance and accident insurance for the occupants of the camper. You are liable for damage to the camper up amount of 2.500€

 

SCDW – Super collision damage waiver

To lower your liability in case of an accident you can purchase SCDW (Super collision damage waiver) insurance. It has the same coverage as the CDW but the liability is lowered down to 1.000 € in case of an accident.

 

TI – Theft insurance

Being that Iceland is among the safest countries in the world we offer theft insurance for free as we can’t justify selling an insurance that we think is not needed. This insurance covers theft of the vehicle but dose not insure items left in the camper i.e. your luggage.

 

GP – Gravel Protection

While driving in Iceland you are likely to encounter gravel roads. The gravel protection covers damages to the glasswork of the camper as well as the paint and headlights for damage cause by flying gravel or stones thrown up by other vehicles on the road. This is the most common cause of damage to our campers! So, we highly recommend it to all of our customers

 

SAAP – Sand and ash protection

No standard insurance covers damage cause by sand or ash storms but we offer SAAP insurance with covers damage to paint, windows and other external components of the campers caused by such storms. These storms happen every now and then in Iceland specially in the South and South-East coasts of Iceland. With the SAAP insurance you are liable for damages up to 1.000 €. With out it you are liable for all damages cause by such storms.

 

TP– Tire protection

Under this insurance repairs and replacements of a broken tires are covered. In case you get a flat tire replace it with the provided spare tire and contact us for further info on were the tire can be fixed or replaced.

 

Premium insurance package

With the Premium insurance package, you get most of the above insurance coverage, that includes SCDW, GP and SAAP. In one package for a lower price.

 

Platinum insurance package

With the Platinum insurance package, you get all of the above insurance coverage, that includes SCDW, GP, SAAP and TP. all in one package with zero liability

Are there damages that the CDW (Collision damage waiver) does NOT cover?

  • Damages caused by gravel hitting the camper by passing vehicles or one in front of you. You can purchase GP (Gravel protection) to get coverage for such damages
  • Damage caused by sand or ash storms. You can purchase SAAP (Sand and ash protection) to get coverage for such damages.
  • Intentional damage or damage due to gross negligence.
  • Damage resulting from the driver being under the influence of any intoxicants!
  • Damage done by animals or due to hitting an animal.
  • Damage done by putting wrong fuel in the camper.
  • Any damages to tires or the chassis (underneath the vehicle).
  • Damage due to river crossing.
  • Damage resulting from driving in places where vehicle traffic is banned.
  • Damage to vehicle caused by driving on roads marked as F-roads (highland roads), as well as driving Kjölur (road 35) or Kaldidalur (road 550).

Can I add extras at any time?

Yes, you can add extras at any time before your arrival given that they are available, so it’s best to add extras in a timely manner to prevent disappointment.

Can I add or change my insurance when I arrive?

Yes, you can. We will go though the insurances that we offer when you arrive at our office so you can change or add coverage.

Do you offer pick-up service?

Hotel in Reykjavík – Affordable Campers office (Free)

Service is available every day from 9am to 7pm.

We will pick you up from you Hotel/Guesthouse or other accommodation anywhere within Reykjavík and transport you to our office where you will receive your camper.

Grey Line bus terminal – Affordable Campers office (Free)

Service is available every day from 9am – 7pm.

We will pick you up from the bus terminal and transport you to our office where you will receive you campers

Do you offer drop-off service?

All drop-offs must take place at our office

 

Drop-off during opening hours:

Please drop the camper off at our office before 6.30pm. The drop off process takes about 15 – 20 minutes as the camper need to be checked over for any damage or missing items. We offer free shuttle service within Reykjavík after you ‘we returned the camper.

 

Drop-off outside opening hours:

If you wish to return your Affordable camper outside of our opening hours, a security deposit equal to your insurance liability (500 – 2.500€) will be taken at the start of the rental. This deposit may be used to cover any damage, tickets parking fines or fuel refills. Please park the vehicle outside our office and lock it and return the keys though our postal slot.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

If you flight is delayed so you can’t arrive within our opening hours let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule your pick-up. You can call us at +354 869-3979 or +354 690-4839 or send us an email at a-campers@a-campers.is

Picking up you camper outside of opening hours may be possible in some instances but there will be a fee for late pick-ups.

What happens if I return my camper late?

If you return you camper more than 2 hours after your specified return time with out prior permission. We will charge a full day’s rental.

What happens if I return my camper earlier than my specified time?

If you wish to return you camper early, please notify us as soon as possible to avoid having to wait for a long time at our office as scheduled drop-offs will always take priority. Note that no refund is given for unused time left on your rental agreement.

Do I have to return the camper clean?

Cleaning the camper is included in the price, however we ask you to take all your belongings and debris out of the camper before returning it. Note that if the camper is exceptionally dirty inside or out, we charge a fee of 50€ for the cleaning.

Do I have to return the camper with a full tank of fuel?

Yes! You will receive the camper with a full tank, and it is required to return it in the same state. If it is returned with less fuel you will be charged for the fuel refill as well as a service fee of 30€.
