What are the requirements to rent a camper from Affordable Campers?
You need to be at least 21 years old and have held a drivers license for at least 12 months before the start of the rental
Do I need an international drivers license to drive in Iceland?
All drivers licenses must include the following -A license number -A photo of the license holder -Valid date -Been printed in Latin characters

What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is 3 days
What is included in the rental price?
It included a camper of your choice with unlimited kilometres/miles, 24% VAT tax, CDW (Collision damage waiver) insurance where you liability is 2.500€ in case of an accident, bedding (sheets, pillows and blankets) and a kitchen box filled with everything needed to cook a simple meal including a gas stove.

How do I pay for the rental?
When reserving your camper you pay a confirmation fee as 15% of the total amount this can be done by credit card
The remaining amount is due at the start of the rental and can be paid by card or by cash. Note that a credit card in the name of the renter needs to be presented at the start of the rental for insurance purposes.

Do I need to bring a credit card when picking up the camper?
Yes, a credit card is required for all rentals for security purposes, we will take an imprint at the start of the rental. Even when the rental has been paid in full, this may be used to charge any traffic violation, parking fines, fuel refills or to cost due to damage to the rented vehicle.
Can I make changes to my rental?
Yes, you can make changes to your rental before the rental begins. If you wish to make any changes email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Can I cancel my rental?
Yes you can. If you cancel 7 days or more before your rental starts the reservation is refunded 100%. If you cancel later than that you will receive 85% of the full amount. You will never get more refunded what you have already paid.
Can I get refunded if I return my camper early?
No, we do not refund if you return the camper early. If you wish to return the camper early please notify us before. All returns shall take place during opening hours (9am – 7pm) Optionally if you need to return the campers outside out opening hours we will take a deposit on your credit card in the same amount as the liability on your insurance (1.000 – 2.500 €) this will be refunded if the camper is returned without any damage to it. Please return the camper at our office at: Dugguvogur 15 from Kænuvogur side, 104 Reykjavík and drop the keys in our postal slot.
When will the rental agreement become active?
The rental agreement will become active as soon as it has been signed and remains active until the campers have been returned.
What roads are the campers allowed on?
All public roads that are not specially marked as F-roads or impassable. additionally road 550 and road 35 where they are unpaved.
What extras do you offer?
We offer a host of optional extras including GPS, Gas BBQ, Table, Camping chairs, Power inverter, Sleeping bag, Fishing gear, fishing license, 4G Internet router,
What insurance do you offer?
CDW is included with the rental, it includes mandatory vehicle insurance, liability insurance, accident insurance for occupants and owner. there is a deductible of 2.500€ on this insurance
SCDW includes the same as CDW with a deductible lowered to 500€
GP or gravel protection is an optional insurance that covers damages caused by rocks or gravel hitting the paintwork or glasswork of the vehicle, there will be no liability in damages covered by this insurance. it is highly recommend
SAAP, sand and ash protection covers damages caused by sand or ash storms that are otherwise not covered by any other insurance. deductible of this insurance is 800€
TP, tire protection covers the cost of fixing or replacing a broken tire, it is however not a roadside assistance and you will need to switch to the spare tire to get to a tire service center. there is no liability on this insurance
Premium Insurance Package includes, SCDW, SAAP and GP with their respective liabilities
Platinum Insurance Package includes all insurance options with a zero deductible
Are there damages that the CDW(Collision damage waiver) does NOT cover?
Intentional damage or damage due to gross negligence on the part of the driver.
Damage resulting from the driver being under the influence of alcohol, stimulants or sedatives, or in any other way incapable of driving the vehicle in a safe manner.
Damage due to race or test driving.
Damage due to war, revolution, civil unrest or riots.
Damage done by animals.
Holes burned into seats, carpets or mats.
Damage affecting only wheels, tires, suspension, batteries, glass (other than windows), radios, or loss by theft of parts of the vehicle and damage resulting from this.
Damage caused to the vehicles´ transmission, drive other parts that are in or attached to the chassis; damage to the chassis resulting from scraping the bottom on rough roads or as a result of ridges being left by road graders, stones lodged in the road surface or on the shoulder of the road. The same applies to damage by stones striking the underside of the vehicle during driving.
Cost of transporting or towing the vehicle to the return location in the event of a collision or accident .
Damages resulting from driving in places where vehicle traffic is banned, such as paths, tracks, banks of snow, ice, unbridged rivers or streams, beaches, places only accessible at low tide, or other trackless areas.
Damages caused by sand, gravel, rocks, ash, pumice, or other kinds of earth material being blown onto the vehicle.
If the vehicle is transported by sea, no compensation will be paid for damage caused by sea spray/seawater.
Damage to vehicles caused by driving on roads marked with an F in public maps as well as driving on Kjölur (Road 35) or Kaldidalur (Road 550)
Lessors loss because of the vehicle being stolen.
Water damage to the vehicle.
Can I add extras at any time?
Yes, you can add extras at any time before your arrival given that they are available, so it’s best to add extras in a timely manner to prevent disappointment
Yes, you can. We will go through the insurances that we offer when you arrive at our office so you can change or add coverage.
Can I travel to Iceland during the Covid pandemic?
Yes, you can. However from August 19th 2020 you will be required to get a Covid test upon arrival and another test 5 days later and stay in quarantine between and until you get the results from the second test or you can choose to do a 14 days quarantine. the test will be free of charge from December 1st 2020 and until january 31st 2021

I previously had Covid do I still need to quarantine at arrival in Iceland?
No, as of December 1st 2020 you can skip quarantine by completing a antibody measurement or providing a certified document for previous antibody measurement.
